Vucic Visits Uzbekistan: Mutual Political Support Agreed at All Levels
President Aleksandar Vucic stated that Serbia and Uzbekistan have agreed on mutual political support at all levels, from the United Nations to all other organizations, and expressed his expectation that in the future, the two countries will also sign a free trade agreement.
"I see enormous potential for cooperation between our countries. We have agreed on mutual political support at all levels, in all international organizations – from the United Nations to all other institutions, bodies, and organizations. Tomorrow we have a busy day, and the day after tomorrow, the opening of the 43rd General Conference of UNESCO", Vucic told reporters, summarizing the first day of his visit to Uzbekistan.
Vucic emphasized that important agreements were signed today, which will serve as the foundation for a preferential trade agreement.
"I hope that in the future we will conclude a free trade agreement, an investment protection agreement, and further strengthen economic and trade cooperation", Vucic said.
He announced that, following the opening of direct flight routes to Tbilisi and Baku, Serbia will soon introduce a new route to Kazakhstan, and after that, the goal will be to open a flight either to Samarkand or Tashkent - depending on the results of the ongoing analysis.
Vucic reminded that Serbia and Uzbekistan signed a Joint Declaration earlier that day.
"Let us not forget that Uzbekistan has never recognized Kosovo’s independence. It has always stood by Serbia, even when it was extremely difficult – despite the decisions of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation – to support us, or at least remain neutral, even regarding the UN resolution on Srebrenica. We have a duty to value such friends and to show an even greater degree of friendship than we usually do, rather than taking their goodwill toward us and our country for granted", Vucic said.
Declaration Between the Two Countries
Vucic expressed pride in the joint declaration and other documents signed between Serbia and Uzbekistan, saying they create a solid foundation and favorable conditions for future cooperation.
"Serbia sees the people of Uzbekistan as a brotherly and friendly nation. We are already looking forward to your upcoming visit to Belgrade and hope to elevate our relations to the level of a strategic partnership", the Serbian president said.

Special attention, he noted, was devoted to issues of cultural, humanitarian, and educational cooperation, along with an exchange of views on current international developments.
Following the talks, several bilateral agreements were signed, and a meeting between the two delegations was held.
Housing Loan Program for Young People Extended by €200 Million
While in Tashkent, President Vucic also announced that he had agreed with Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali to immediately extend the state-subsidized housing loan program for young people by an additional €200 million.
"Just moments ago, I spoke with Minister Mali from the car and agreed with Sinisa that we immediately extend the program by another €200 million, so young people - apply now - you will never have a better opportunity", Vucic told reporters.
He called on young people to take advantage of this unique opportunity to purchase a home - one, as he stressed, that "no other country in the world can offer".
Vucic added that it was good news that the entire guarantee program for youth housing loans has been completed, noting that 3,755 contracts have already been finalized, 300 more will be signed in the coming days, and an additional 500 are expected to be concluded shortly thereafter.
