Ministry of Mining and Energy: NIS confirms it has oil reserves until November 25th
Representatives of the Petroleum Industry of Serbia (NIS) have confirmed that the oil refinery in Pancevo will continue operating until November 25th, using the oil reserves currently available, the Ministry of Mining and Energy announced.
The acting assistant minister for the oil and gas sector, Sasa Kokovic, stated that the Ministry, together with other state institutions, has been particularly engaged in providing support and coordination regarding logistics, in order to make full use of all available capacities for the transport of imported petroleum products.
At a meeting of the Permanent Working Body of the Organization for the National Strategy for Crisis Situations in the Oil Sector, where the current situation regarding the supply of the domestic market with petroleum products was discussed, it was also emphasized that efforts will be made to ensure the coordinated and even distribution of fuel to all gas stations - something especially important for smaller stations.
As energy security increasingly becomes synonymous with political stability, the question arises: how much does Serbia actually possess of its own “black gold”? And does the energy of the future lie beneath our land, or merely traces of once-abundant resources that are slowly being depleted?
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministries of Mining, Finance, Foreign and Internal Trade, Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, and Internal Affairs, as well as the Republic Directorate for Commodity Reserves, the Energy Reserves Administration, the Customs Administration, the Tax Administration, Transnafta, NIS, the Association of Oil Companies of Serbia, and member companies of that association.
