The President of Serbia wrote on Instagram that he was grateful to his “great friend Emmanuel Macron” for the warm reception.
"I expect an open discussion about the bilateral relations between Serbia and France, as well as about the current situation in the region, in the context of all the global challenges we are facing. A special focus of the talks will be economic relations and new projects that could contribute to an even greater presence of French investments in Serbia", Vucic stated.
He added that he was grateful to Macron for the understanding France shows toward Serbia and for the support it provides on its European path.
"I emphasized that Serbia remains committed to reforms and to building a society based on work, knowledge, and European values. I believe that relations between Serbia and France are stronger today than at any time in recent history. I am convinced that we will continue to develop our strategic partnership and build a future together based on trust and mutual respect", Vucic wrote.
He noted that the meeting was also an opportunity to invite President Macron to visit Serbia again, as Serbia sees in France a sincere friend and an important partner on its European and development path.
“I Expect an Extremely Important Meeting”
The two officials will hold talks during a working dinner hosted by Macron in Vucic’s honor, the Serbian President’s Media Relations Office announced.
Ahead of the meeting, President Vucic said he expected an extremely important and substantive discussion with Macron, with whom, as he noted, he would talk about all key geopolitical, regional, and bilateral cooperation issues, as well as Serbia’s European path.
He emphasized that his visit to Paris would be brief, but expressed hope that afterwards he would have news that would give citizens confidence that the coming winter can be faced with greater security and calm.
He also said he hoped a solution would be found regarding the Petroleum Industry of Serbia, and that Serbia would soon know what needs to be done in the months ahead.
