Earlier, Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic stated that, after nearly 100 days, the first crude oil shipment for NIS would arrive via JANAF and be delivered during this week. She added that this means the Pancevo Refinery is expected to resume operations around January 16 and release its first diesel fuel to the market around January 26 or 27.
She also said she expects talks between Gazprom Neft and MOL regarding the purchase of the Russian stake in NIS to be successfully concluded, and that OFAC will extend NIS’s operating license.
The start of 2026 brings a new wave of price increases for Serbian citizens, putting additional pressure on household budgets. Higher prices for utility services, energy, taxes, and excise duties are already in effect or are expected by the end of the year.
"Good news on Tuesday morning, after nearly 100 days, the first crude oil is arriving via the Adriatic Pipeline. This is approximately 85,000 tonnes that will be delivered during this week. This means the Pancevo Refinery will resume operations around January 16, in any case before the end of the week. We expect the first diesel to come out of production and reach the market around January 26 or 27", said Djedovic Handanovic.
According to her, after these 85,000 tonnes, an additional 35,000 to 45,000 tonnes of crude oil are expected to arrive next week.
Together with domestic crude oil reserves, which currently amount to around 120,000 tonnes, this will ensure that the refinery can continue operating for a longer period, including beyond January 23.
JANAF suspended crude oil deliveries to the Pancevo Refinery on October 9, when the full implementation of U.S. sanctions began.
NIS was granted a license to continue operations until January 23.
