Expo 2027 is our greatest opportunity for growth, and at this exhibition we will present Serbia in the right way, said Serbia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Sinisa Mali, in an interview for the Spanish newspaper El Mundo.

The decision to join the EU is a political one, but Serbia will do everything possible to become a member, Mali emphasized.
"Different countries seek different sources of growth: how to develop their economy, how to promote their country, how to contribute to development. For us, this is exactly it. We are implementing a very successful economic policy. Two years ago, we were the third fastest-growing economy in Europe", Mali told El Mundo.
"We will have between 130 and 140 participants at Expo. We will achieve even better relations with those countries and present Serbia in the right way", said Sinisa Mali, answering a question about what such a large-scale project as Expo represents for Serbia.
He noted that he views Europe as a continent, and that Expo 2027 will be the biggest global event next year and the best place for reconnection and exchange of visions, especially at a time of conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
The gas contract for Serbia has been extended for three months, said Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic after speaking with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Responding to a question about plans after Expo 2027, Mali said that citizens of Serbia have been presented with visions titled “Serbia 2030” and "Serbia 2035".
"Expo itself is not our goal; it is just a step. We created the program ‘Serbia 2027: Leap into the Future,’ which involves investments of 17.8 billion euros in infrastructure. We are currently building nine new highways in Serbia and a network of high-speed railways. We already have 200 kilometers of completed railway to Hungary, with trains traveling at 200 km/h. Not many countries in Europe have that, right", Mali said.
