CEO of Telekom Srbija: Excellent year for shareholders, continued investment in startups

In an article for Politika, Lucic emphasized that a few days ago, the Telekom Srbija Ventures fund, the first corporate venture capital fund of its kind in Serbia, invested in the Italian innovative startup LampoVet. This company specializes in biotechnology for pets, offering advanced artificial intelligence (AI) solutions in telemedicine and laying the groundwork for significant research in animal health.

"Earlier, the TS Ventures fund invested in the Serbian-American startup Connect The Dots, an innovative platform that uses artificial intelligence to map professional connections and helps companies build stronger networks to acquire new clients more quickly and efficiently. One of the latest investments is in the Serbian-British innovative startup Moree LLC, which is revolutionizing the consumer goods industry through smart and sustainable solutions for reusable packaging," said Lucic.

The TS Ventures fund was founded by Telekom Srbija in 2021 with the goal of supporting startups that have the potential to transform industries and create global success stories, with a special focus on developing the domestic tech ecosystem.

"For this purpose, we allocated 25 million euros, with plans to invest them over the next five years. LampoVet, Connect The Dots, and Moree are not the only ones; we have financed a total of 15 startups so far, which, among other things, are working on the application of AI in the development of 'smart glasses' that automatically adjust to the user's prescription, combating internet piracy, early detection of vascular diseases, the development of cloud microprocessors, automating hotel and private accommodation management in the cloud system, and AI-based recruitment," he emphasized.

He added that 2.4 million euros have been invested over three years, with an average investment of 133,000 euros, and that nine startups are working on artificial intelligence. Six of them have already launched new funding rounds, and six startups have the potential to become unicorns - companies with a market value of over one billion dollars.

Lucic concluded by expressing confidence that such projects could be an important source of revenue for the company in the future. He also pointed out that Telekom’s decision to establish a corporate venture capital (CVC) fund was inspired by major successful global companies that invest in startups, such as Microsoft, Google, Intel, Accenture, IBM, Mastercard, Spotify, Walmart, and Uber.
