The President of the Republic of Srpska, Milorad Dodik, stated that Srpska is celebrating its sovereignty, identity, and tradition, emphasizing that it refuses to be anyone's colony.
"Committed to peace, through truth and unity, we will continue to protect our sacred Republic of Srpska," said Dodik.
The Republic of Srpska was established on January 9, 1992, prior to the outbreak of war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, initially under the name Serbian Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
It was founded by Serbian deputies in the then Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina after being outvoted on critical issues regarding the survival of Yugoslavia.
On Wednesday, a formal ceremonial and reception were held at the Administrative Center of the Government of the Republic of Srpska in Banja Luka. The event was attended by a large delegation from the Government of Serbia, led by Prime Minister Milos Vucevic, as well as the Speaker of the National Assembly of Serbia, Ana Brnabic.
