Dragan Sutanovac Appointed as Serbia’s New Ambassador to Washington
Dragan Sutanovac, former Minister of Defense and ex-president of the Democratic Party, has been confirmed as Serbia’s new ambassador to Washington, Newsmax Balkans reports.
The appointment of the president of the Council for Strategic Policies was approved at today’s government session.
Serbia is now expected to submit a request for agrément to the United States. Once the agrément is approved in Washington, a process that typically takes 40 to 60 days, Sutanovac will formally assume his role as ambassador.
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, announced after discussions with José Fernandez, the U.S. Under Secretary for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment, that there are no good news for Serbian citizens but assured that Serbia will maintain stability and energy security.
Sutanovac is the founder and president of the Council for Strategic Policies and served as Serbia’s Minister of Defense for two terms.
Marko Djuric previously held the position of Serbia’s ambassador to Washington from December 2020 until April 2024, when he was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs.
