"I think Serbia made a mistake. I apologize to the citizens of Serbia for that, and I take full responsibility for it because I am probably tired and overwhelmed, and I can't keep up with everything," said Vucic.
He added that, regarding the American resolution, Serbia abstained, and in his opinion, it should have abstained on the European resolution as well.
"The explanation I heard afterward was that by abstaining, we would confirm our position on territorial integrity. Well, we wouldn't be denying it even if we had abstained. I don't think we should try to please any power, neither the Russians, nor the Americans, nor anyone else. I think that Serbia's best interest should have been our abstention," Vucic said.
The UN General Assembly adopted the resolution drafted by Ukraine and its European allies marking the third anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The resolution calls for Moscow to "immediately, fully, and unconditionally" withdraw all its armed forces from Ukrainian territory and urges an end to hostilities.
