U.S. sanctions on the Serbian Oil Industry (NIS) have been delayed for 30 days, announced the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic.
"We have received an additional 30 days for the Serbian Oil Industry. A good piece of news for the citizens of Serbia," Vucic stated.
He posted a document from the U.S. Department of the Treasury on Instagram, which confirmed the delay of sanctions on NIS until March 28.
The sanctions were supposed to take effect at 6 AM Central European Time.
Previously, the NIS company, with the support of the Serbian and Hungarian governments, submitted a request to the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) to extend the deadline for the implementation of the sanctions by 90 days.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated that the European Parliament adopted a resolution on Serbia with fewer votes than before, emphasizing that this shows they are losing popularity and strength in their fight against Serbia.
