The Minister of Mining and Energy, Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic, stated that they received information from the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) that they have approved the request to delay sanctions and that the Americans have acknowledged the importance of NIS for our economy.
"This is certainly great news for the citizens of Serbia. We received information from the American side, primarily from OFAC, and early this morning, it was notified by the Government of Serbia that they have approved our request, or the support we gave to NIS's request to delay the sanctions. The Americans have stated that they understand the importance of NIS for our economy, for our citizens, but also for regional energy stability, and that NIS is vital for the functioning of some of the most important activities in our society, such as the healthcare system, police, and others," said Minister Djedovic Handanovic.
