Germany Honors a Serbian Citizen for a Heroic Deed
The Prime Minister of the Bavarian state, Markus Söder, held a ceremony at the famous royal Residenz Palace in central Munich, where he awarded decorations and honors to citizens of the region who, through selfless, brave, and personal efforts, saved human lives in recent years.
Among the 77 honorees was Nenad Boskovic, originally from Kraljevo, who, along with a colleague, prevented a fire in a nursing home in downtown Munich. Boskovic’s actions saved the lives of many residents of that facility.
“I’ve lived here for ten years. Two and a half years ago, a fire broke out — an elderly woman caught fire. It happened during the night shift. My colleagues and I ran to help, rescued her, and extinguished the fire,” Boskovic told Newsmax Balkans.

The event was also attended by Serbia’s Consul General in Munich, Bozidar Vucurovic, who emphasized that the award represents a continuation of “Serbian pride and honor.”
“In the past, we’ve received international recognition mainly in sports, and now — for acts of bravery,” said Vucurovic.
