The theme of the event "Play for Humanity - Sport and Music for All" was designed to show how creative play through sports and music can contribute to connecting people and a common response to global challenges, and Jackie Chan, in an interview with Euronews, emphasized that sports, music and culture are not separate, but represent different languages of the same spirit.
He believes that Belgrade will be the meeting place of the East and the West in 2027.
"Martial arts taught me discipline, rhythm and respect, values that go far beyond fighting. Acting has allowed me to share stories that connect people of different cultures," adds Chan.
President Vucic met with Chan
"Belgrade has long become a new home for many global stars, and this time we have the special pleasure of hosting the famous Jackie Chan, a man whose film art continues to inspire all generations. It is a great honor that this global movie star and one of the world’s greatest cultural ambassadors will represent EXPO in Serbia with his charisma and energy," said the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, who met with the celebrated Hollywood actor, expressing confidence that Chan, as the promoter of EXPO 2027, will provide strong support in presenting the event and bringing closer to the world the spirit of play that EXPO promotes in Serbia.
He reminds that he is also a singer who has released a lot of albums, which has always been a way for him to express his emotions directly from his heart.
"When you put these three things together, you see that they are not separate at all: the rhythm in martial arts is like music, the storytelling in music is like film, and they all carry cultural heritage," adds Jackie Chan.
He added that he sees the EXPO as a stage where nations share ideas, innovations and traditions.
"For visitors, it is an opportunity to experience the spirit of Serbia and the energy of Belgrade, a city located at the crossroads of East and West, with a history of resilience and a culture of hospitality. Coming to Belgrade for the Expo means more than looking at the pavilion, it means being part of a global conversation about our future, and at the same time discovering a vibrant city full of music, sports and tradition. It is an invitation to connect, to be inspired and to take these experiences home," Chan believes.
Belgrade is preparing to complete several infrastructure projects by 2027, among which are the modernization of the fairgrounds and the improvement of the traffic network.
"The EXPO is not just an exhibition, but a global conversation about the future. Visitors will be able to feel the energy of Belgrade, a city with a rich history and hospitality, but also to participate in the creation of new connections and inspirations," said Chan.
He was an ambassador for EXPO 2010 in Shanghai, which he says taught him that such events can inspire a sense of community and creativity.
Jackie Chan believes that Belgrade will have the same strength in 2027 - to show the world how cultural dialogue transcends borders and how diversity can become the engine of new energy for a common future.
"The Fair in Belgrade should and will have the same spirit. Serbia is located at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, a place where histories and cultures have always met. The 2027 Fair will be an opportunity to show that the East and the West are not separate worlds, but parts of a common future," Chan believes.
Chan believes that EXPO 2027 can become a stage where nations share ideas, respect each other and find inspiration in their differences.
"All my life I have believed that culture has no borders. In film, I tried to mix Eastern traditions with Western storytelling. In music, I mixed different rhythms, and through my charity work, I was always looking for ways to connect people regardless of their nationality," adds Chan.
He believes that that should also be an inspiration for the upcoming EXPO 2027.
"That is the real power of cultural dialogue, and I believe that Belgrade can convey that message to the world," concludes Jackie Chan.
