He added that the global situation is complex, that the United Nations order exists only on paper, and that the rule of force and the law of the stronger prevail.

"At the National Security Council session, we discussed three topics: regional military and political security, with a focus on the situation in Europe and globally; energy security and the safety of Serbia; and U.S. actions on the territory of Venezuela. Appropriate conclusions were adopted", Vucic said.

"We are aware of the complexity of the position our country holds in the region of Southeast Europe. I deliberately said something broader than just the Western Balkans. Naturally, the complexity of our position will become even more pronounced, especially given the fact that the old world order is collapsing and that no rules apply anymore", the Serbian president emphasized.

Vucic explained developments following the arrest of Nicolas Maduro and U.S. attacks on targets in Venezuela.

According to him, small countries like Serbia may continue to advocate for international law, but must also acknowledge, especially after the actions in Venezuela, that “it is completely clear that the international legal order and the United Nations Charter do not function at all.”

"The rule of force dominates the world - the law of the stronger. Whoever is stronger prevails, and that is the only principle of contemporary global politics. Other principles do not exist. It is enough to look at how certain representatives of European institutions and European countries reacted to what happened in Venezuela. They have their own minor interests in Maduro’s removal, yet they do not dare say so openly because they fear what may come next, whether it is Greenland or something else that could once again lead to the collapse of European unity. This clearly shows that there are no principles anywhere", Vucic said.

He added that one of the conclusions of the session was that Serbia must rely only on itself.

Vucic stated that Serbia has a complex position in Southeast Europe and added that what causes the greatest concern is the continued armament of Pristina, in violation of the UN Charter and UN Security Council Resolution 1244.

"What particularly concerns us is the continued armament of Pristina, contrary to the UN Charter. Resolution 1244 has been suspended de facto, although not de jure - de facto suspended by major Western powers and certain regional players such as Turkey. Pristina is being rapidly armed, and a particular threat to Serbia’s security, territorial integrity, and sovereignty is posed by the alliance or newly formed partnership between Pristina, Tirana, and Zagreb. This includes the joint development of complex combat systems, from four-by-four vehicles to concepts for more powerful weapons in the future", the Serbian president said.

Vucic reiterated that one of the session’s conclusions was that Serbia must rely on itself.

"If attacks were to come from within the region, no one would help us. The United States and major powers will not attack us. Those in the region carried out this armament at someone else’s behest, and it has happened before that they shifted from a defensive to an offensive posture. That is why we must be prepared. At the military parade, you could see what we have acquired and what we continue to acquire", Vucic said.
