Body of Young Woman Found Outside the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade; Prosecutor’s Office Investigating Circumstances
The Special Department for Combating Corruption of the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade has launched an investigation into a tragic incident that occurred Thursday evening at the Faculty of Philosophy, when the body of a young woman was found on the plateau in front of the building.
The Ministry of the Interior (MUP) stated that at around 10:40 p.m. on Thursday, following the activation and ignition of pyrotechnic devices on the fifth floor of the faculty, a 25-year-old woman allegedly jumped from a window and died.
The head of the Stari Grad Police Station, Radenko Resanovic, said that police officers received the report at 10:40 p.m., after which they immediately arrived at the scene, where they found the woman showing no signs of life.
Starting May 5, citizens and businesses will be able to make payments in euros under the same conditions as in the Single Euro Payments Area (EU, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, UK), enabling cashless euro transactions across Europe.
"According to initial information obtained from eyewitnesses, pyrotechnic devices were activated and ignited on the fifth floor of the Faculty of Philosophy, after which, as is suspected, a female person - most likely a student of the faculty - jumped through a window," Resanovic said, according to a statement from the Ministry of the Interior.
As stated, the police were instructed to enter the Faculty of Philosophy building due to threats to public safety, life, physical integrity, health, and property, and to promptly examine all circumstances related to the incident.

"The request was made due to grounds for suspicion of omissions by the dean and other staff regarding the safety of students and employees, as well as the adequacy of protocols applied in crisis situations," the Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.
The Protector of Citizens (Ombudsman) of Serbia, Zoran Pasalic, has initiated proceedings to review the work of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Belgrade following information about the tragic event on March 26 at the institution.
