Twenty Israeli hostages from Gaza, who had been held captive by the Palestinian militant group Hamas, have been released - among the first seven is Alon Ohel. The Serbian citizen was handed over to the Red Cross in Gaza, while people in Israel celebrate, reports The Times of Israel.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Djuric welcomed the release of Israeli-Serbian citizen Alon Ohel, who had been held captive by Hamas for more than two years.
The president of the Serb List, Zlatan Elek, announced that the party achieved a convincing victory in nine out of ten municipalities with a Serb majority in Kosovo and Metohija and that the four municipalities north of the Ibar River have been returned to Serb control.

Djuric wrote on X that Ohel and his family are reunited after two years and five days in captivity.

Many thanks to President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic and the Serbian government, the governments of Israel and Germany, and everyone else for their concrete support from the very beginning. A well-deserved heroic welcome to U.S. President Donald Trump in Tel Aviv", Djuric stated.
Ohel was attending the Nova music festival near Re’im on October 7, 2023, when Hamas terrorists infiltrated Israel. His family revealed in April that they had received information from released hostages that Ohel is now blind in one eye.
