Next year’s budget-funded studies possible even with fewer than 48 ECTS credits

Serbia’s Ministry of Education has announced that students who have earned fewer than 48 ECTS credits necessary for budget-funded studies, may also be enrolled at the expense of the state budget for the 2025/2026 academic year, after the enrollment of students who have met this requirement.

Next year’s budget-funded studies possible even with fewer than 48 ECTS credits

As stated, enrollment in the next academic year with fewer than 48 ECTS credits at the state’s expense will be possible only up to the total number of students whose studies were financed from the budget in the 2024/2025 academic year in those study programs, in order to maintain the number of budget-funded students.

Students with fewer ECTS credits who rank within the total number of budget-financed students will also retain the right to accommodation and meals in student facilities, as well as eligibility for scholarships and loans, under the same terms and conditions as other budget-funded students.

This decision takes into account the request of the Student Conference of Universities of Serbia and the Student Conference of Academies of Vocational Studies and Higher Schools of Serbia, in recognition of the best interests of students and the unfavorable circumstances surrounding teaching and exam organization during the 2024/2025 academic year, with the aim of preventing negative consequences for the higher education system and for students, the Ministry of Education emphasized in its statement.
