The event highlighted the message that the Balkan edition of this media outlet is becoming an important pillar of its future European expansion.
At the gala dinner, the CEO of U.S. Newsmax, Christopher Ruddy, emphasized that expanding the network to the European market is a natural step.
“Serbia is an important country in Europe, with an exceptional culture and history, but also a key ally of the United States. The CEO of Telekom Srbija, Vladimir Lucic, has been an outstanding supporter of the U.S., and we like to support our friends,” Ruddy said.
He added that cooperation with Telekom Srbija was a logical choice.
“When the opportunity arose to work together, we seized it immediately. Our partnership with you has been exceptional, and we are truly grateful for the work of journalists like you and all our friends there in Serbia,” the head of the American media company stated.
Speaking about the importance of the TV channel itself, Ruddy described Newsmax Balkans as a key platform for entering the European market.
He also offered an interesting comparison.
“You know, in military terms, it is said that the military leads with an aircraft carrier. It is a massive ship that commands respect – it’s like a big stick. So, the way we see Newsmax Balkans is as our aircraft carrier in Europe,” Ruddy explained vividly.
Telekom Srbija CEO Vladimir Lucic reminded that the partnership with Newsmax began two years ago and has since grown into one of the company’s most important international projects.
“Thank you, Chris, for the opportunity to be Newsmax’s partner in Europe – first in the Western Balkans, and now in Eastern Europe as well,” Lucic said.
“A Valuable Experience”
He explained that the experience of U.S. Newsmax is invaluable, as it demonstrates how a news channel can break through in the digital era.
“Newsmax has seen incredible growth over the past 6–7 years. There is much to learn from the company – how to be successful, how to enter a highly competitive market and rise near the top. And I believe we are now becoming a good partner as well, because we are expanding Newsmax not only in Serbia, but also in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and soon Albania,” Lucic noted.
He also announced concrete plans concerning the launch of operations in Poland in April next year, with the expectation that within a year and a half the network will cover the area from Poland to Bulgaria.
“We have learned how to deliver an international brand to nearly half of Europe. It was a major challenge, but I believe we have succeeded,” the Telekom Srbija CEO added.
Speaking about Telekom Srbija’s entry into the U.S. market, Lucic emphasized that next year the company will offer mobile services and additional content, which he sees as an important step in its international positioning.
“Not Just a Regional Project”
Ruddy recalled his company’s slogan – “real news for real people” – noting that he expects Newsmax Balkans to expand into cities with large Serbian diaspora communities.
“We are looking forward to the day when Newsmax Balkans comes to Chicago. Many Serbs live in America, and they already have the possibility to access the channel through apps and Telekom Srbija,” Ruddy said, stressing that the project is no longer merely regional but “international and global.”
The Washington promotion concluded with a message emphasizing the continuation of joint expansion and gratitude to the partners for the historic opportunity to strengthen the presence of a prominent American media brand in Europe.
