Mirko Kokovic from the Traffic Safety Agency says that a strategy has been adopted to ensure that by 2030 there will be no children killed in traffic accidents, and he announced that he hopes a new Traffic Safety Law will be adopted by the end of 2026.
"About 60 percent of children are transported improperly, without appropriate child safety seats, and even when seats are used, mistakes are made in about 90 percent of cases. These are figures that should seriously concern us", Kokovic said.
He pointed out that Serbia has about 78 traffic fatalities per million inhabitants, which he described as one of the highest public safety risks in Europe, while some countries such as Finland and Norway record periods without a single traffic fatality.
The administration of US President Donald Trump began preparations for radical changes in American foreign and judicial policy, including the possible cancellation of funding for international courts and projects that have shaped processes in the Balkans for decades, Newsmax Balkans has learned.
In an extraordinary world premiere that is generating excitement across global film and tech communities, the first-ever Nikola Tesla Film Festival will debut on January 7 at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.
Kokovic said that much is expected from the new Traffic Safety Law, whose draft is currently being prepared, emphasizing that it will introduce systemic solutions and alignment with European regulations, along with stricter penalties for not wearing seat belts and for using mobile phones while driving.
Kokovic appealed to citizens not to drive under the influence of alcohol during the holiday period and to use alternative modes of transportation whenever possible, stressing that traffic safety begins with the responsibility of every individual.
