Vucic: Due to the "General Staff campaign", an investment worth 750 million euros was lost
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic stated that Serbia lost an investment worth at least 750 million euros due to Jared Kushner’s decision to abandon plans to build a hotel in Belgrade, which he attributed to what he described as the "General Staff campaign".
He emphasized that a major opportunity had been missed.
"The campaign against the General Staff began as a campaign of support for the blockaders’ witch hunt against people who were responsible and performed their jobs seriously, because everything needs to be smeared, everything needs to be destroyed - the worse for the country, the better for them. The goal is to devastate Serbia, leave it without investors, without electricity, without salaries, to carry out general strikes and everything else, so that Serbia disappears from the map of successful countries", Vucic said.
Vucic stated that he would personally prepare and file criminal complaints against all individuals who, as he said, participated in the campaign aimed at destroying this investment.
President Aleksandar Vucic met with a high-level delegation of the World Bank, led by Charles Cormier, Director for Regional Infrastructure for Europe and Central Asia, and stated that the talks focused on Serbia’s energy security.
"This includes individuals from the police, from the prosecution, and others who contributed to the dismantling and further economic undermining of the Republic of Serbia. However, they will not be able to decide on their own accountability - there must be another prosecutorial authority competent for them, not one that drafts rejections of criminal complaints against itself", Vucic said.
He stressed that justice is the most important issue, of crucial significance, and that citizens are eager for justice.
He added that the story surrounding the General Staff is only now truly becoming an affair.
"And unfortunately, both for the state and the people, we are the major losers. We have lost an exceptional investment of 750 million euros at a minimum. The total material damage caused by the blockaders and the prosecution is no less than 1.5 billion euro, through various means", President Vucic stated.
