Vucic with the President of Azerbaijan on the Middle East situation: Dialogue and de-escalation are necessary
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, spoke by phone with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, about the current situation in the Middle East, emphasizing that de-escalation, responsibility, and dialogue are necessary to preserve stability in the wider region.
Vucic noted in an Instagram post that the conversation with Aliyev was friendly and that they exchanged views on the current situation in the Middle East and the possible consequences of the conflict for the entire world.
"We expressed concern about the further escalation of the conflict, with hope that reason and diplomacy will prevail and open space for establishing peace. We agreed that de-escalation, responsibility, and dialogue are necessary to preserve stability in the wider region", Vucic stated.
Iran’s Ambassador to Serbia, Mohamed Sadek Fazli, said the country is currently governed by a Temporary Council as a new Supreme Leader has not been elected. He claimed the U.S. and Israel are sabotaging the process by targeting sites believed to host meetings.
Citizens of Serbia, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Croatia, who were evacuated from Israel, arrived in Belgrade around two o’clock after midnight on a special Air Serbia flight from Sharm El Sheikh, organized by the Government of Serbia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
This comes at a time when rockets and drones launched from Iran fell in the Azerbaijani enclave of Nakhchivan.The drone attack damaged the airport building and injured two civilians.
Azerbaijan strongly condemns the attacks and has delivered a protest note to the Iranian ambassador.
Vucic with Bocan-Kharchenko on energy stability
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, met with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation, Aleksandr Bocan-Kharchenko, and stated that they discussed current international circumstances and security challenges, as well as issues of importance for Serbia, primarily energy security and stable supply.
"A very good conversation with Ambassador Bocan-Kharchenko, during which we discussed current international circumstances and security challenges that further burden Europe and the world, as well as issues of immediate importance for Serbia, primarily energy security and stable supply", Vucic wrote on Instagram.
