At the opening of the conference, Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Djuric stated that Serbia will remain the strongest bastion of international law and that Serbian diplomacy will continue to evolve during the challenging times ahead.
"Our Ministry of Foreign Affairs must be the principal carrier and pillar of Serbia's foreign policy response and the main support to all state institutions in navigating foreign policy. In this era, we are required to be flexible, adaptable, ready to embrace new technologies, respond to emerging social and political circumstances, and provide the best possible solutions," Djuric said.
Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Djuric, during a meeting in Athens, expressed gratitude to Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis for his support of the European Serbia vision, emphasizing that Serbia’s accession to the EU would strengthen the position of both countries.
Foreign Minister Marko Djuric stated that Richard Grenell, the future U.S. envoy for special missions, is someone who knows the Western Balkans region and someone Serbia can engage with.
He reminded the audience that this is the first Diplomatic Conference held in Belgrade in over a decade. "We have gathered here to collectively assess Serbia's foreign policy performance in a time that is more turbulent and challenging than any faced by previous generations of diplomats in modern Serbian history," said Djuric.
He added that he is confident Serbia faces great new horizons for cooperation.
Djuric stated that Serbia continues to pursue a nationally responsible foreign policy characterized by an outstretched hand of cooperation, aimed at supporting the vision outlined by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in his address in September 2019, where key national priorities were defined.
"Everything we do, everything we create, and all your efforts in your host countries are guided by the strategic vision for Serbia's future – not within your tenure as ambassadors, but in the decades to come. You are tasked with building a network of friends across the globe that will serve as a solid foundation for Serbia's independent and sovereign foreign policy," Djuric emphasized.
He also stated that Serbia's membership in the European Union remains an absolute strategic priority for the Serbian diplomatic network and expressed pride in Serbia's pursuit of a multi-vector foreign policy.
