The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, sent a message to President Aleksandar Vucic on the occasion of Serbia’s Statehood Day, expressing that France is confident in Serbia’s European future.
Macron added that France will continue to support the dynamics of Serbia’s rapprochement with the European Union and all the essential reforms that will contribute to it.
"Mr. President, dear Aleksandar, on the occasion of the National Day of the Republic of Serbia, I would like to send you my heartfelt congratulations and emphasize the importance I attach to strengthening the relations between our two peoples and our two countries. I am pleased that our mutual visits in recent years have allowed us to deepen and expand our bilateral cooperation in new areas such as research and exploitation of metals and strategic minerals, energy, agriculture, innovation, and artificial intelligence," Macron's message, published by Vucic on his Instagram account, reads.
U.S. President Donald Trump congratulated Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and the citizens of Serbia on Statehood Day, emphasizing his eagerness to further strengthen the partnership and collaborate on efforts to improve stability and economic development in the Western Balkans.
The French President expressed his desire for this year to be marked by important progress in the implementation of the intergovernmental agreement on priority projects and progress in the area of defense cooperation between the two countries.
"France is confident in Serbia’s European future and will continue to support the dynamics of Serbia’s rapprochement with the European Union and all the essential reforms that will contribute to it. France will also continue to support the dialogue facilitated by the European Union for the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina based on the commitments accepted by both parties under the Brussels-Ohrid agreements. Please accept, Mr. President, the expression of my deep respect," Macron concluded in his message.
