"They are heroes": The EU has awarded 10 exceptional people from Serbia for their humanity and solidarity
The EU delegation in Belgrade presented awards to ten heroes from Serbia who, with their selfless deeds and commitment to the community, showed the true values of solidarity and kindness, the fundamental principles on which the European Union rests.
The winners of the contest "They are heroes" were recognized for their acts of philanthropy and solidarity, which the EU considers fundamental values.
The Deputy Head of the EU Delegation, Plamena Halaceva, emphasized that what connects the nominees from 30 places across Serbia is the fact that they helped the community and inspired 20,000 people to vote for them.
European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, stated that Serbia could open Cluster 3 in the fall if it fulfills the necessary conditions in the meantime, but she assessed that Serbia is making slow progress in the key area of the rule of law.
Serbia is in the 34th place among the countries with the most powerful passports in the world, with visa-free regimes or visas on arrival for 138 destinations out of a total of 227, according to the data of the "Henley Passport" index, where, on a list of 99 countries, Singapore is still at the top.

This year's winners are:
Djordje Mitrovic (Prokuplje), 26-year-old writer and activist with arthrogryposis, master agricultural engineer.
Branko Djalamic (Bogatic), donated a kidney to a school friend.
Biljana Stojanovic (Nis), doctor and mother of a child with autism, fights for the rights of children with autism.
Nejra Skrijelj (Novi Pazar), a symbol of humanity, has been volunteering for years.
Mila Rajkovic (Belgrade), takes care of more than 80 abandoned animals.
Radica Blagojevic (Belgrade), truck driver and member of the "Road Friend" association.
Misa Hromcik (Zrenjanin), has been organizing "Moto Santa Claus" and "Moto Bunny" for 15 years.
Jasmina Barac Perovic (Nis), fights for the accessibility of people with disabilities.
Nadica Stojanovic (Leskovac), librarian, volunteers in the association "Our world".
Anastasija Vujic (Belgrade), has been helping children in hospitals and their homes since the age of 13.
These heroes were rewarded with a trip to the EU, annual family tickets to Beo Zoo, tickets to the National Museum and gift packages from Coca Cola, Bambi and Lidl.
